dripping in jewels

Remember these puppies? I played dress up with little Daphne recently [and some of the gorgeous bridesmaid jewelry meant for my sister's upcoming wedding!]. This little gal was clearly born with style.

weekend report: summer vacation

Okay, so it wasn't summer vacation...but it felt like it! This weekend marked the close of Northstar-at-Tahoe's winter season and my boyfriend and I had to squeeze one last ski[me]/snowboard[him] trip in before it was too late. The weather was amazing [I am talking 80 degrees!] and we experienced what felt like summer skiing at it's finest.

take me away

Lately the travel bug has been itching me like crazy. Last week I was [this] close to booking a cheap [no, really!] 9-night trip to London in October for my boyfriend and I...but I didn't do it. Wherever my next adventure will take me, I am on the market and taking suggestions!

Our last getaway was a [quick] week long trip to Maui - it was teeming with activities from concerts, to lots of fish & overflowing mai-tais, to surf competitions, snorkeling, hiking, and swimming in waterfalls, whale watching, and witnessing the largest swell on the northshore in years [55+ foot waves!]. Needless to say, it was
a m a z i n g.

tea time!

This weekend was spent hosting an afternoon tea bridal shower at Camellia Tea Room for my little sister - the final celebration before her big day in May! Erin Taylor [her wedding planner & great friend] at Bustle designed a gorgeous invitation and theme/design. We had an amazing time toasting Natalie & JD with mimosas, delicious tea, paulette macaron favors, tiny tea sandwiches & scones, and a beautiful cake by emmacakes!

zac posen for target

I am infatuated with anything Zac Posen puts down the runway, so when I heard he was doing a line for Target, I was ecstatic! The line is hitting stores nationwide April 25, but NYCers are getting an exclusive chance to shop next week.

For those of us here on the west coast (and everywhere else, for that matter), we'll just have to sit & wait on the edge of our seats 'til the line's debut!

black&white vs. bright

Last weekend, as I was shopping for a dress to wear to a bridal shower, I had a vision of something springy - maybe floral, maybe pastel, definitely flowy - but whatever it was, it was NOT going to be black or white! How could it? My closet is FULL of little black dresses and I needed to add a little spice to my life.

Surprise - I ended up with this perfect Corey Lynn Calter Robbie strapless black & white pencil dress. I would have been disappointed in myself, but it fit me like a glove & there is no way I was going home with out it. Besides, I plan on wearing a bright pair of platforms to liven it up [I know...excuses, excuses!].

From now on, I am on a mission for C O L O R...I PROMISE!

meow

Every year, as soon as the weather starts turning warm, the first thing on my wish list is new sunglasses. Some girls love shoes, some love bags...me? I LOVE sunglasses. Besides adding some instant glamor to any outfit, they are the most functional of all accessories (i.e. my eye doctor highly recommends them). Which is why I don't mind investing a little extra for the perfect pair. Give me a dress and some sunnies and I am good-to-go. Who needs shoes, anyway?

After scoping a photo of Jessica Biel wearing DvF's cat-eye sunglasses, I am on the search for a pair of my own.
